WEEE Recycling
♻️ WEEE and Waste Battery Recycling Policy – Electronix.ie
As an online retailer operating within Ireland, we are committed to fulfilling our obligations under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations and the Batteries and Accumulators Regulations.
WEEE and Waste Battery Take-Back
1. Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE):
-
We provide for the free-of-charge take-back of your old electrical equipment on a one-for-one, like-for-like basis when you purchase a new item from us.
-
“Like-for-like” means the returned item must be of a similar type or have fulfilled the same function as the new item purchased (e.g., returning an old kettle when purchasing a new one).
2. Waste Batteries:
-
All waste batteries, including rechargeable batteries, are accepted for take-back free of charge.
-
You are not obligated to make a purchase when returning waste batteries.
Where to Return Your Items (Retailer Obligation)
Since Electronix.ie does not operate a physical retail premises, all WEEE and waste batteries resulting from household consumption must be returned by the customer to designated local authority facilities.
-
Each local authority in Ireland is required to accept household WEEE and small waste batteries free of charge at their authorised recycling centres.
-
WEEE and waste batteries must not be placed in any household waste bin. They must be recycled appropriately.
Collection of Large WEEE Items
For the convenience of our customers, we offer a collection service for large WEEE items only under the following conditions:
-
One-for-One, Like-for-Like Basis: The collection service is only available when a new, equivalent electrical item is purchased from us.
-
Collection with New Delivery: The old item will be collected by the delivery driver at the time of the new product delivery.
-
Customer Preparation: To ensure compliance and the safety of our delivery staff, the customer must ensure the old electrical item is fully disconnected, clean, and ready for collection at the time of delivery.
-
Arrangement Notice: 48 hours’ notice is mandatory to arrange for collection alongside the new delivery.
-
Small Appliances: Small appliances delivered via courier cannot be collected at the time of delivery. They must be returned to a local civic amenity site. However, we can still confirm arrangements to ensure your old small appliance is recycled free of charge in an environmentally sound manner.
Why Recycle?
Recycling WEEE and waste batteries is essential to:
-
Reduce Harmful Effects: Correct disposal significantly reduces the potential for harmful substances to impact the environment.
-
Conserve Resources: It facilitates the recovery of valuable materials, conserving natural resources that would otherwise be depleted to manufacture new goods.
